ABOUT THE EVENT - Important Race Information
 
 
PRE-RACE
 
Drink plenty of water before and after the race.
 
Avoid consumption of alcohol, stimulants or any kind of drugs within 24 hours prior to race.
 
Ensure that you have ample rest before the race.
 
Ensure that you are properly warmed up and stretched prior to the race.
 
If you do not feel well a few days prior to the race, please seek a doctor's clearance for your participation.
 
 
RACE DAY
 
Report during the allocated time to ensure a smooth procedure.
 
Timing sequences are subject to change at the discretion of the organisers.
 
Participants who report after their race category has been flagged off will be deemed as latecomers. Latecomers are allowed to participate. However, their timings will be disqualified and they will not be entitled to prizes.

RACE BIBS
 
The race bib is to be properly secured using safety pins provided and must be displayed on the front torso throughout the race.
 
The race bib is strictly not transferable. Participants found doing so will be disqualified.
 
Participants without bibs will not be allowed to participate in the race.
 
Please indicate your name and emergency contact details, medical conditions (if any) and medical allergies (if any) on the reverse side of your race bib.
 
Please present your race bib at the Medals booth to collect your Finisher Medal.
 
 
CHAMPIONCHIP
 
Swissôtel Vertical Marathon will be using a new and disposable ChampionChip.
 
Participants are required to display their assigned bib number and to ensure that the ChampionChip is securely tied to their left shoelace.
 
The ChampionChip must be secured to your shoe lace before the start of the race to record the Start and End points.
 
Failure to secure the ChampionChip to your shoelaces will render the Run-Up void as the timing will not be captured.
 
Participants without their ChampionChips will not have any timing reflected.
 
The ChampionChip is for one-time use only. You are hence not required to return the chip after the race.
 
Certificates will be mailed to you within 1 month after the race.
 
 
BAGGAGE
 
Baggage storage facilities are not available.
 
Do not leave your baggage or valuables unattended at the event site. Unattended baggage will be removed by security.
 
The Organiser shall not be liable for any loss or damage, personal or otherwise, and however arising.
 
 
WARM UP/STRETCHING
 
Please ensure that you are properly warmed up and stretched prior to Start Time.
 
 
THE START
 
Participants are to report to the Start Point at least 30 minutes prior to Start Time.
 
Participants in queue will be flagged off in groups of not more than 6.
 
Following the flag off, participants will run towards the stairway, enter the stairway and race up 73 storeys.
 
Your timing will start at flag off.
 
Start times are estimates. The Organiser reserves the right to change times without prior notice.
 
 
THE RACE (DO'S & DO NOT'S)
 
Keep to the side of the railings.
 
Encourage fellow participants.
 
Do not push, shove and block other racers. Failure to maintain good sportsmanship will result in disqualification.
 
Please do not block the entire width of the stairwell if you are climbing with friends. Be considerate, allow space for other racers to overtake at all times.
 
For the safety of all runners, please do not bring water into the stairwell.
 
Drinks will be provided at the Start and End points.
 
 
WATER POINTS
 
There will be two water points.
 
Start Point on street level – Bottled mineral water will be available.
 
Finish Point at Helipad – Bottled mineral water will be available.
 
Racers who prefer isotonic drinks are advised to bring their own.
 
All drinks are to be consumed before or after the race. For safety reasons, drinks are not allowed in the stairwell.
 
 
IF YOU ARE LATE
 
Participants who run after their respective categories will not be eligible for prizes.
 
Participation will be at the Organiser's discretion.
 
 
THE FINISH
 
The finish line is located at the top of Swissôtel The Stamford.
 
Participants are allowed to stay at the helipad for 10 minutes to enjoy the panoramic view.
 
The exit will be via Level 4 at Raffles City Convention Centre.
 
 
FINISHER MEDAL & CERTIFICATE
 
Finisher medals will be handed to participants at the Finish point.
 
Certificates will be mailed to the address indicated in your online registration form within a month.
 
 
RESULTS AND PRIZE PRESENTATION
 
Results of the top 10 winners will be posted on a Results Board located on Level 4 of Raffles City Convention Centre, at least one hour after the last flag off of the respective categories.
 
The top 3 winners are to report to the Information Booth to collect your winners tag.
 
Winners must be present 15 minutes before the prize presentation to collect their prizes. Uncollected prizes will be donated to charity.
 
In the event of a dispute over race results, an appeal can be lodged at the Information Booth within a 15-minute time period from the posting of the race results.
 
Results will be posted within the Swissôtel Vertical Marathon website within 48 hours after the end of the race.
 
Prize presentation will take place at approximately 1.00pm at the main stage.
 
The top 3 winners are required to be seated in front of the main stage by 12.45pm according to their race categories.
 
 
CERTIFICATE COLLECTION
 
There will be no collection of certificates. Certificates will be posted to participants within a month.
 
 
APPEAL
 
A participant who protests against another competitor or notifies of violation by a contestant must do so at the Information Booth within a 15-minute time period from the posting of the race results.
 
Other protests must be made in accordance to the existing International Triathlon Union Rules.
 
A deposit of US$50 or equivalent must accompany the appropriate protest and will be refunded if the protest is successful.
 
 
MEDICAL
 
Professional medical staff will be on standby.
 
Should you feel unwell during the climb, please stop and approach the nearest Official / medical staff for assistance.
 
The Organiser reserves the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable (i.e. causing severe physical harm to oneself) of continuing the race.
 
 
MEDICAL EVACUATION
 
All fire escape doors along the route will be unlocked.
 
A route marshall will be stationed on every 5 floors of the route and assist in the evacuation of any injured participants.
 
Injured participants will be transported from the building via the building lift (Fireman Lift).
 
 
TREATMENT
 
Participants with minor injuries (eg, cuts and falls) will be assisted to the stairway lobby and treatment with be conducted on the spot.
 
For serious injury, the affected participant will be assisted out of the race route, a first aider will assess the situation and provide treatment on the spot, or the participant will be brought to a treatment room for treatment or rest. In severe cases, the doctor will be called and should the need arise, the participant will be sent to the hospital by an ambulance. The patient will be sent to the nearest hospital.
 
 
MEDICAL BILL POLICY
 
The Organiser will only provide participants with basic first aid treatment on the event day unless circumstances require for emergency treatment on the spot. Treatments conducted on the spot will be by trained medical personnel.
 
The cost of ambulance services to the hospital in cases of emergency will be borne by the participant.
 
The cost of medical treatments at the hospital and any other follow up treatments will be borne by the participant.
 
 
WEATHER
 
In the event of inclement weather, the Organiser reserves the right to delay the commencement of the race.
 
The Organiser also reserves the right to cancel the race without any refund should inclement weather persist after delay.
